For me is because the choices are short & limited - last year
I wanted to get a laptop - looking at Apple's offerings, there're
only MacBook and MacBook Pro. I wanted 15", and I picked MBP. Done.
Unlike Dell and HP which have gazillion of choices.

I'm all for choice, but often in this modern age, it gets a bit too much (http://www.ted.com/talks/barry_schwartz_on_the_paradox_of_choice.html).

Actually, I don't think this is unusual at all and I'm tending to agree with this.

When it comes to a PC or a PC laptop, you can spend a lot and agonize over whether you've got the best in the range. I know there used to be, (and still is) fierce battles between makers of the same Video Cards over who can do the best for the exact same nVidia model!!!

I guess it makes it easier when you get a Macbook or MBP, that I know exactly what it is.. It is the top of the given line, or the mid of the line or the bottom of the line currently. Then it is superseded by the next generation. You're always exactly aware of where you stand with your computer.

Plus I'm a huge believer in too much choice is restrictive

Plus I'm a huge believer in too much choice is restrictive

That's exactly the thesis of Barry Schwartz' "The Paradox of Choice".
