Here's a battery from a 17" MacBook Pro (model A1189, serial ends in YF1A) that decided to start expanding one day (and still is...I'm thinking of placing it inside a fireproof box just in case).

Called Apple who are sending me a new one. One of the last questions the Apple tech guy asked when I called about my expanding battery was "So, does it still fit in the battery compartment?"

Um.....no.

They want me to post this one back to them when the replacement arrives. Will be interesting if it pops on the way back.

Got to love Sony manufacturing.

Ya, Sony were the ones who made the infamous 'exploding Dell' batteries too.

I've never heard of issues from any other battery manufacturer.

Just to clarify....this particular battery model/run/batch isn't part of the Apple battery recall from a year or two back (hence why I put the model and last 4 digits of the serial in the original post...jsut in case you have one too....)
