I promise I searched the old posts first..... But, I just got a new internal hdd for my macbook. I'm fine with the physical installation of the new drive but I just need clarification on the following:

I have a bootable superduper back-up on a firewire drive. Once I've swapped the new internal, I just have to boot from the back-up, format the new drive using disk utility and run superduper in reverse and everything should be fine and dandy right??

Depends who you did your backup with, but yes it should work.

Firewire target disk mode is about to become your friend.

No need for TDM.

rooread, your assumption is 100% correct.

Cheers for that, it was a Superduper backup and it's all worked perfectly... Although my missus decided to kick the external's powercord out when the restore was 98% done.... Jeez I couldn't help letting her have it.... verbally of course.... I asked her very politely to be careful several times and then bang... Out goes the plug... Oh well, thank fuck for "smartbackup".... I love you super duper and so does my missus. My macbook is back with a ton of free space and 7200 rpm's of goodness.
