Kildare

Decided I'd put together a little XBench Results Database from AppleTalk members as a basic comparison point as well as to rank the Top 3 scores based on processor series.

Basic standards for this listing are...
= Everyday settings to be used.
= Processor set to "Highest" (Energy Saver Options) where applicable.
= The complete test must be run.

Grab XBench v1.1.3 from here...
http://www.xbench.com/

Please use the basic result template below & provide an official XBench Comparison URL...

Score: XBench Score
Class: G3 / G4 (Desktop / Notebook) / G5 (Dual / Single)
System Model: iBook G4, iMac G5, etc...
Basic Specs: CPU / RAM / GPU / HDD / OS X Ver.
Comments: Anything you wish to add...
URL: XBench Comparison URL

UPDATE: The highest given score per person will be submitted. You may update your details @ anytime. Minor devation in results are to be expected.

Re-Ran test and got a score of:
111.85
122.22
115.62 (changed to using original drive on this one, which is about one third slower when using applications)

These benchmarks are all over the place and maybe need to be run from a clean boot CD and real life tests?

I'd say devation of a few % is quite acceptable between runs.
Probably best to do it off a reboot though & make sure all other applications are closed for the best results & to avoid anything else affecting the suite.

XBench isn't the most sophisticated thing out there but it seems to provide a basic overall performance point.

I just use iPulse for metering instead of apps that run all the time. Everything else that I need to troubleshoot I can do with the terminal. Obviously I ran the benchmark after a fresh boot with as many apps as possible closed. :P

When I said 'crap' I meant useless haxies, not applications.

Tommelbourne, that iMac speed seems about right for your specs. The test eMac at work (700Mhz G4, 256Mb) gets 72.17 on Tiger. It's very sluggish in use compared to my girlfriend's 667Mhz PowerBook (which has 768Mb).

Cool, good to hear The Lamp isn't running all that sluggishly. When i do eventually move to Tiger it should give me a bit of a speed boost, methinks.
