View Full Version : WiFinder App broken with 3.0

G'day all

I've been using the app WiFinder on my iPod Touch. Quite like it. The 3.0 update broke WiFinder unfortunately and when I checked for an updated version I found that it is no longer available on the App Store. Apparently the author broke some Apple programming rules and it's been removed.

Any recommendations for an alternative? What are people using to sniff for wifi points?

Cheers
Steve

I also got an email today advising that 3.0 breaks Easy WiFi, so that alternative is out.

WifiTrak (http://www.bitrino.com/wifitrak/) - currently broken in 3.0 but I believe an update has been submitted and it's now up to Apple...

Looks like we will have to start using what you can see under settings and turning wifi on and off doesn't work very well for me on networks with very low signal strength.

that sucks, hopefully an app that adds GPS co-ordinates to the log will come along soon

Bummer!! I really liked WiFinder and was coveting it since learning it was removed.
Not happy!!

you could try WiFiFoFum. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=289025499&mt=8 (file:///C:/Users/Brett%27s/AppData/Local/Temp/WiFiFoFum%20%28WiFi%20Scanner%29.url) I've had it through all FW updates and serves me quite well. Not sure how it compares to the ones you speak of, but it's not too bad

Damn, I was actually going to email the dev of that app on my (just starting now) holidays to see I could make him a nicer icon for free.. guess he's gone though
