I like to hear from other travellers about their awesome holiday destinations and perhaps you could just some it up with a pic.

I know this isnt mac related but perhaps u could incorpotate your mac or apple device into this thread..

Im just curious to see places i never have..

Heres a pic of my time in a lagoon near where THE BEACH was filmed.. not the actual beach but its much nicer than where it was actually filmed.. this lagoon was about 5ft deep and the water was crystal clear..

Please post some pics if you have some...

Picture from my last road trip with dad. 4,400km covered in 4 days (NSW to SA to Vic to NSW). :)
It might look pretty boring to some...but I LOVE driving on roads like this.

First we went to Amsterdam..
This is looking back from Rijksmuseum around Museumplein
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/museumplein-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/museumplein.jpg)

Then to NYC - this is Ground Zero..
I managed to get a cool silhouette effect off a cross they erected from parts of the WTC..
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/nyc-groundzero-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/nyc-groundzero.jpg)

Then the Ferry to Liberty Island.. w/ Hudson River on left and East River on right.
It was freezing - about -5° windchill on the water.

http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/nyc-rivers-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/nyc-rivers.jpg)

more to come...

chrisp
3rd February 2005, 11:21 AM
Then off to Montreal..
This was near the city & old port - just a couple in the snow in the distance.
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/montreal-oldport-1-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/montreal-oldport-1.jpg)

Ended up in Windsor, ON and this photo is looking across the river to Detroit
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/detroit-skyline-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/detroit-skyline.jpg)

Then here & there, over west.. south.. and ended up in Vegas
This is looking up the strip from an overpass.
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/vegas-strip-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/vegas-strip.jpg)

but wait, there's still more!....

3rd February 2005, 11:30 AM
Then ended up via Grand Canyon, through AZ..
This is (I think) Humprey's Peak - taken from the rental car while we were driving.
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/az-humpreyspeak-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/az-humpreyspeak.jpg)

Then to Venice Beach and got a shot of some dudes playing BBall..
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/venicebeach-bball-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/venicebeach-bball.jpg)

And finally, hung out in The OC for a few days at Huntington Beach and saw a dog skateboarding..
http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/huntington-dog-s.jpg (http://www.awayfromnow.com/overseas/huntington-dog.jpg)

Not long after, we came home..

6 week holiday. Amsterdam to US/Canada, East coast NYC, Boston - across Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, then down the west coast through San Fran, LA, Vegas, Arizona, Sandiego, Tijuana, Orange County then home..

As the topic suggests, I have a mac-related Holiday Pic, from my weekend trip to Cork, in Ireland yesterday.. Although the photo below is pretty cool, the best 'Apple' part of the trip was when I was able to upload the best of my photos from the trip, from the PowerBook to my blog, via free wireless access available in Cork airport - all even before i'd left the country and returned to London!!! :D

My younger brother and his girlfriend have recently moved there to work (he's a pharmacist), and while we were driving around the city seeing the sights on Saturday, he took us to where his Pharmacy is for a look-see.. We was explaining a bit about the area when he slips out: "oh yeah the Ireland Apple office's and warehouse/distribution etc are just around the corner.." WELL, you've never seen his little Opel Corsa car move so quick as I hurried him on with excitement so I could see this site!

Here is a photo of me out the front, and of course, as with all things Apple, it is a sexy building.. Even the security sentry building on the front gate has a blue and white G3 tower managing the entry/exit system!!

http://img140.exs.cx/img140/9215/img46494xv.th.jpg (http://img140.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img140&image=img46494xv.jpg)

http://img207.exs.cx/img207/8289/img46482on.th.jpg (http://img207.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img207&image=img46482on.jpg)

I have plenty of other travel photos on the spargo blog here (http://spargoblog.blogspot.com), including others from part of the Ring of Kerry we saw on Sunday - also in there are earler posts of the blog are our trip to Rome, photos from the opening of the London Apple Retail Store, and also many adventures in London and other stories & photos from Cardiff, Wales, and the North and Midlands of England..

And there'll be plenty more to come from 7 days skiing in France in 2 weeks time, then Singapore, then Brisbane for the 3 weeks wedding visit, then to Spain for 2 weeks, then back to London for work again.. And the PowerBook is there all the way recording all the action while the iPod and Numark's keeps me sane on the flights in-between!

Heres some of Vanuatu. :P The fish is a 5kg Barracuda, which you might remember from the film "Finding Nemo" as the fish which kills Nemo's mum at the start. Anyways, I avenged her death and caught the bastard! :D

http://img203.exs.cx/img203/3181/rimg01312nf.jpg

It was actually quite hard to catch the fish: we were out in a little boat (just 2 of us... me, the resort manager who is in one of the pics and a local guy who owned the boat) with a small outboard moter, trawling up and down the edges of a number of reefs. The line was FARKING strong 100 pound line, and about 0.5cm thick. :) When the Barra attacked the lure and was on the hook, you had to pull the line in by hand and wind it around a polystyrene reel thingie. You couldn't twist the line around your hand to help pull it in, because a shark could come up and take the fish and hook, amputating your hand or pulling you into the sea. So really, it was a great work out! :)

http://img203.exs.cx/img203/6470/rimg01326jf.jpg

Scarily, they catch up to 35kg Wahoo (which are world renowned fighting fish) so I can't imagine how hard it would be to pull one of them aboard! :o

http://img203.exs.cx/img203/9698/rimg01338zj.jpg

The other pics are of a volcano we visited. This volcano was the one you would have seen if you watched "Survivor: Vanuatu" even though it was on a different island to where the "survivors" actually lived. But hey, thats hollywood as they say. The film crews (35 people in all) stayed at the resort we were at when they were down filming the volcano. And it was awesome fun at the volcano... the wind was going across us, but if it swung around so it was in our face, we had to get off the volcano fast because the stuff was being thrown up high enough to hit the rim of the caldera (crater bitty in the volcano) on the otherside.

http://img149.exs.cx/img149/1636/rimg00912jh.jpg

Also, as it erupted (every 2 minutes or so) you could see the shockwave in the smoke over the volcano, and feel the ground shake. It was scary, but exciting too. Well worth the 3 hour 4WD trip to get there. :D

http://img233.exs.cx/img233/2509/rimg00946dp.jpg

So there you have it... Vanuatu.

~Ozi.

In April I went to London. Have a look at my pictures of the London Apple Store in Regent Street here: http://homepage.mac.com/luke.manhood/Londo...otoAlbum15.html (http://homepage.mac.com/luke.manhood/London/PhotoAlbum15.html).

you can check out a whole range of photos from time in Japan to Ireland and Home

but I would say that most of these images are personal... not x rated or anything.. just that they are people who I met... but there are some scenery shots. (which are probably more interesting for strangers). :D

Mmm hadn't noticed this thread before...
I just got back from a holiday- but haven't sorted through the pics yet...

flew 1st class to L.A. (next to Geoffrey Rush)
Did Disneyland and the O.C.
over to Houston and the Space Centre
then onto a Caribbean cruise!

Cozumel and Costa Maya (Mexico), Peurto Lima (Costa Rica), Panama Canal (WOW!) and Panama City, and of course to finish Georgetown in the Grand Cayman Islands.

Happy to share some pics if you want (when I sort them out!)
