I have some lets say sexy friends. It started out as a joke but now it seems more serious. Which is cool by me but I just don't know anything about working with "models." Main thing I'm asking about is who does image ownership work? Does the photographer have full rights to the image? Does anyone have any advise based on personal experience?

You need a properly-worded 'model-release form' for them to sign.
Which conforms to a legally binding document.

generally speaking, by default the photographer owns the rights to images except in the case where the photographer is hired for personal images (i.e. weddings and portraits).

Get a properly worded model release with explicit details and get everyone involved to sign them. Do a google and you'll find plenty of examples.
