I opened iTunes this morning and purchased 1 song. It downloaded ok and I was charged for this 1 song. Then I noticed a bunch of songs approximately 30 in total that I'd never seen before. I sorted the songs by date added and they were all downloaded this morning a 10:15am. I don't know where these songs came from. I don't even know who most of the artists are or the songs. I've attached a pic to show.

Anyone got any idea how this has happened. How on earth can 30 songs appear in my library without me putting them there? I know only the song I bought downloaded, and there is no way my iMac can download 30 songs in 1 minute? Explanations would be appreciated.

Did you purchase the song from a user made iList, or a iTunes promo 'deep dive' into a particular artist?

I think they're the "34 free songs" you got if you set up your US iTunes account as per this thread (http://forums.mactalk.com.au/18/39050-how-get-us-itunes-account-free.html). I have the same songs in my library too.

Haha, I should've seen that myself.

I've got them too!

That Spectre song is actually really awesome, as is the Gay blades track.

Aha! I do have a US iTunes account. Funny the songs should turn up now after all this time. Also I was logged into my AUS iTunes account at the time. Thanks for the explanation guys. :)
