So I have an existing iTunes account which contains all my purchased content.

I recently subscribed to MobileMe.

Today I sat down to the task of consolidating those two accounts and assumed I could merge my iTunes account over to my MobileMe account.

Nope. Can't be done.

I can't even change the existing iTunes account login to my me.com address. Apple, in their infinite wisdom decided that everyone that signed up to MobileMe would get an automatically generated and separate iTunes account. So I theoretically have two accounts at this point with no way to merge them.

I complained via the online chat support and some chick said sorry, it can't be done and gave me 5 song credits.

WTF.

you have to have an appleID to use iTunes, why didn't you use that for MobileMe? :S

Because it was an old email address I no longer use.
