Hey everyone

Just thought I'd put up a warning note - Windows 7 has a new XP compatibility mode to allow for some programs to work on windows 7 that would otherwise not work. The key thing here is that it requires the CPU to support virtualisation.

So for bootcampers and ?vmware/parallels users this will become important when windows 7 is released.

Whilst most macs have a processor that supports virtualisation, I note that the base Macbook 2.0ghz Alu body does NOT support it (P7350), whereas the 2.4 ghz macbook alu does (P8600)

This is based on Mactracker data for the particular Intel part number and this article:

How many Intel CPUs will fail the XP Mode test in Windows 7? | Ed Bott’s Microsoft Report | ZDNet.com (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=946&page=3)

Something to note for those who are about to buy with bootcamp in mind.

The ability to run Windows is a bug, not a feature :p

This is annoying...my MacBook (T7500) supports it, yet my Dell PC (E7400) doesn't. Guess which one I'll be using Windows 7 on more.
