Hi all. Just wondering about how ppl use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) on their macs - if at all.

- What mac setup do you have?
- What GIS Package?
- If running it through windows (most likely) what version of windows are you running?
- how are you running windows (VM, boot camp, etc)?
- Have you dedicated an entire partition or drive to your windows GIS setup?
- what kind of GIS stuff do you do?

Would be keen to get anetwork going of Mac GIS users, as this is largely a windows dominated field.

Cheers

I use ArcGIS on a PC running XP. I have also seen it running under VMWare Fusion on a Mac and it seems to run fine.

I've never really thought about GIS work on the Mac and haven't looked into it because, as you said, it seems to be really dominated by Windows.

For the record:

Just got ArcGIS working on the Mac Pro.

Via VM Ware Fusion, with Windows 7 release candidate installed as a 64 bit virtual machine.

Works like a charm, although I could use more ram - it is maxed out.
