I have Illustrator 10 - not new but very new to me. I have dabbled in online tutorials and dived in to have a play but think I need a decent book to guide me. I am comfortable with Photoshop and way back when used to use Macdraw.

I used classroom in a book, but that for Illustrator 3!

I'm pretty sure the series is still going.

You don't find the online help enough? Most modern apps have great searchable help.
Is there anything specific you're after?

Yes I'd suggest the Classroom In A Book series as well. They are very wel written and will cover more than you will need to know.

Online help - and Google search - can give answers to specific questions, but this can be a bit like learning a language with a dictionary - possible in theory but not very efficient.

I found with Photoshop that Deke McLelland's PS One-on-One sped up my understanding of tools, settings etc.

I get better with each session on Illustrator - but keep triggering accidental changes. I figure that a decent book might give me the same boost in Illustrator as I got in PS - also easy to skim when enjoying a glass of red.
