Do you mean sync - as in keep them both up to date, or just export?

keep up to date would be nice but also just exporting them for now would also be fine, reason being for work we use black berry so my only other option is to buy missing sync and then sync them onto blackberry and then to pc?

Sentence structure helps when you post questions;)

Address book exports to vCard. I don't know thunderbird on PC though, so don't know if you can import vCard.

You can do this using google contacts as an intermediary

So on the PC with thunderbird, you need to get an addon called Zindus which syncs Thunderbird with Google contacts

Now on the Mac you need to get set up contact syncing using this guide:
How to Enable Mac Address Book to Sync with Google’s Gmail Contacts without an iPhone or .Mac [Mac Guide] : Zaphu (http://www.zaphu.com/2008/05/29/how-to-enable-mac-address-book-syncing-with-googles-gmail-contacts-without-an-iphone-or-mac/)
