Hey guys,

I need an external DVD writer! (don't we all i here you say).

The situation is i have a 12" 1.33Ghz Powerbook AL and a PC desktop, and would like to be able to switch between the two. Both machines have the same interfaces, USB2 and Firewire, i already have toast titanium and nero 6 so software won't really swing me. I have bee procrastinating from exam prep so i have done a bit of research and narrowed it down to these two models, the Sony DRX800UL found here (http://www.sonystyle.com.au/catalog/product.jsp?id=DRX800UL) and the LaCie D2 found here (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10122) though if anyone has a better suggestion i am open for it.

So if you have any experience with these models or dvd writers in general, i much appreciate the feed back!

Cheers,
DMaxx

I have a lacie d2 without the light scribe technology, it is a great drive, the lacie also comes with DiscRecording software that enables the drive to be used as a burner within OS X and other apple apps without having to resort to patchburn
