I like...
but if it was a genuine mock-up, wouldn't it have the new 3.0 SMS+Phone icons?

It probably comes with an external bluetooth dongle that converts a wireless signal to a standard 3.5" slot. You then have to charge the phone and the dongle. I reckon that'll definitely be the future.

Convenience:ignored. Introducing the iPhone 4G.

The text on the geekandhype site makes it clear that it is just speculative concept-art, it invites readers to submit their own design ideas, such as the transparent iphone (http://www.geekandhype.com/2008/06/09/liphone-3g-sera-transparent-ou-ne-sera-pas/).

I am confused.

The current iPhone model is the second generation iPhone and it runs on a 3G network.

The next model, when it's released, will be the Third generation iPhone. and it will have to also run on 3G as yet, there is no such thing as a 4G network.

so tell me, what exactly do you mean by a 4G iPhone?

As a concept its v. pretty - v.clean and crisp, shame the headphone socket will not fit such a tapered top/bottom. Still I reckon the cases will be leaked about May if previous changes are anything to go by.

Definitely photoshopped. I don't even like it, photoshop or not. Also, the next iPhone will either remain iPhone 3G or just go back to iPhone. There is no iPhone 4G, at least not for many years.

Definitely not photoshopped:

I must admit that chrome would suit the iPhone so much more than the iPod touch (since the iPhone is the flagship iPhone OS-based product) but I think a problem is to do with all the antennas and stuff inside it. I'd love to have an iPhone with the chrome and shape of the 2G iPod touch.

A device that thin would need to be made of very sturdy materials especially as the whole front of the device is essentially glass. I like it as a concept but I wonder how practical it would be to use and hold. Sure looks pretty. How many manufacturers are prepared to make yet another design change to their existing docks and devices? I don't think it would make very many of them happy.

there's something about it i just don't like

i think it could be the squared front with the curved back casing. just looks a bit odd (i know it's only a mock-up but nevertheless...)

if the next iphone was like the current gen touch i'd be all over it :D

Wouldn't be any different to the iPod changes over the years. Especially the nano.

yeh agreed... I think that explains the whole "universal dock adaptor" things that come in the box. I think Apple license the spec to 3rd party manufacturers for the adaptor housing, do they not?

Quite Frankly, I don't reckon that origional mockup fits in with apples current design trends.

No silent switch, at least it won't fall off.

Totally concept art, but very well done.

I actually looked at it and thought - oh yeah, more stupid tapering like the MacBook Air... very Apple.
