Aldi use to sell iPods, and now MSY are selling Macbooks. Apple gear is just getting too common.

$1499 for a C2D 2Ghz/2G/120G/13.3"/9400 VGA/DVDRW/MacOS

That's a good point. Apples are getting too common... and every teen has an iPod.

I think I'll switch to Windows PC or Linux. I want to be different.

Yep - it's a really good price though. From Apple they're $1649. MSY are selling it for $1499. Does this model have Firewire?

It appears that this is the current generation white polycarbonate MacBook, not any previous model.

To answer your question decryption, no, this model doesn't have firewire (my brother bought this model about 3 weeks ago from the Apple Store).

Untrue.

Apple - MacBook - White polycarbonate 13-inch MacBook (http://www.apple.com/au/macbook/white/)

The photo tells the story. And the fact everyone is buying them as they are the best deal IMO at the moment. $1499 is indeed a great price - better than EDU.

Are you sure? Apple's spec page says it still includes a FireWire port (http://support.apple.com/kb/SP504). I haven't had a chance to play with one yet, though...

I'm pretty sure the white ones still have the Firewire port.

This is pretty good news. I personally wouldn't buy from them but I'd use them for price-matching purposes.

Well my brother's model doesn't have firewire. I might need to check which model the Apple Store Chatswood sold us...

There's different types of Firewire ports. Just check what port is to the left of the 2 USB ports. That's where the Firewire port is on the white Macbooks.

The latest MBP has only FW 800, maybe same with MB?

Unibody MacBooks do not have FireWire. At all. All white MacBooks have a 6 pin FireWire 400 port.

So just to clarify, this is the current white macbook, which recently got a specs bump?

Yep, that's correct. You can tell as MSY list it with the 9400M chipset, which is what the latest white-MacBooks have.

Wow, awesome price. I wonder why they're only selling that model though and not all the others?

Maybe they got a good deal on some excess stock or something? They're not an Authorised Apple Dealer....

Why is this the only Mac product that have? What about the Aluminium ones?

Maybe they're testing the water to see if there's a market for them

if you can handle the margin of selling apple products, then it maybe a good idea.

I hope they sell a bucket load. If MSY become a reseller it will only be good for price.

I used to buy A LOT from MSY, back then building a PC was the way to go. Now i'm all for Apple. Hopefully MSY sells more Apple product. Can only be good for pricing.

Aldi use to sell iPods,

OT: Aldi Brookvale still has silver 4GB Nanos @ ~$159, I think it was. was there on sunday.

I was looking at this;
ALDI - Medion akoya 12.1" Design Notebook - from thurs 26 mar while stocks last (http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers_medion_20090326.htm)

http://aldi.com.au/au/media/img/W13_specialbuys_4x2.jpg

If I was interested in another sh!tbox, I'd definitely consider one of these.
but really it's a potential replacement for my much loved 12" powerbook, well it's only the screen size, everything else, meh!

The Pentium in that laptop is a low-end Penryn dual core 2GHz chip like what used to be in the old MacBooks.
