Hi All,

Sorry if this a bit of naive question but what exactly is TechTool Deluxe?? I recently purchased Apple Care and gave me the option to download it but its 1.3gig. Is it necessary? Who's got it, how often used, etc?

Cheers

John

It's basically a diagnostic/troubleshooting suite.

I've never used it in my history of Mac using. You would only need it if something goes wrong. I'd download it, burn it to a DVD and keep it handy just in case.

TechTool Deluxe saved my ass today

I had the infamous Nvidia graphics card issue on my MBP, was having trouble replicating the fault, ran TechTool deluxe in front of the Genius and when it got to testing the Video Ram the crazy imagery started again. Nice (desired result).

Funny thing was, it said the video ram "passed". Fail.
