Hi guys

I need some info on how to set up a wirless connection on my mac.

I have a g4 desktop connected to adsl + I have an ibook I want to make wirless
I have just bought an Apple AirPort Express Base Station, I know I need to put an airport card in the ibook
but do i need anything else, like a card for my g4 desktop?

cheers

If you have more than one ethernet port on your adsl modem, then you should just connect one to the Airport Express and another to the G4 desktop.

If its only got one ethernet port, then you'll need to have it connected to AE and then buy a wireless card for your desktop.

Just depends on how you want to do it.

In short something like:

Phone line -> ADSL Modem -> Airport Base Station

Add wireless card to the desktop machine to connect to to the base station (that's the ''have it connected to AE'' bit).
You can save a bit of cash by choosing a non-Apple option. Just keep an eye out for:

- 802.11g or 802.11b standard compatability
- Mac OS X compatability (you'd be surprised how many 3rd party cards aren't)

802.11b isn't as fast 802.11g, but should be cheaper.
802.11b will be more than adequate if it's just for accessing ADSL.
