Hi all,

I received my new 17" yesterday and promptly installed the Seagate 7200.4 ASG HDD (500GB, 7200RPM)

I installed all my stuff (half of the 500GB is now gone!!!!) and decided to run xBench for some info for you all.

Remember that this machine has a half full HDD and it was doing a few things in the background

I have a Canon 5DII and its RAW files are 30MB EACH (34 Photos = 1GB:confused:)

In Aperture, even with nothing else running i used to just go strait to no free ram (on 4GB RAM) when working with lots of photos, now i have a chance of processing 100+ photos in less than 2 hours!!!!

Also the 1080p video from the camera is hell on computers most cannot handle playback let alone editing.

This new 17 with the 8GB ram has no problems.

Nice machine!!

I had a play with one today at work.

Where did you purchase the HDD from? I'm looking at purchasing a 500GB 7200rpm for my MBP :D
