I have just received a copy of toast, now i thought that this program removed the encode (css) off DVDís allowing a DVD to be pirated.
So my question is do I need different software or just need to learn how to use the program.

Any help would be much appreciated

Toast doesn't do what you want to do.

Try Mactheripper or Handbrake.

Also by pirated, you mean that you want to make backup copies of your DVDs as you don't want them to get scratched.
