Hi guys

I left my iBook on downloading with Azureus while I was at work today only to come home and find it had had a kernal panic. So I rebooted only to have it come up with the folder with a question mark in it icon. Tried reseting the PRAM, no good, booted holding down the option key, cant see any drives. So far the closest Ive gotten is Disk Utility being able to see the actual hard drive but the partition is grayed out and it throws up a whole lot of errors when I try to verify the disk. Im assuming something is corrupted in a bad way and I was wondering if there was any utilities that can help retrieve my data before I erase the disk for a re-install?

No I dont have another mac with firewire (yet) so target mode is no good to me :(

Sounds like directory structure damage to me, The best utility for resolving this is DiskWarrior. Most likely this will have you back up and running in half an hour.

Good Luck!
