I am trying to rip music from lps to computer using a memory stick. However the entire side of the album comes across as one track. How can I separate tracks. Pls help i am a novice

Try AudioSlicer (http://audioslicer.sourceforge.net/) or MP3trimmer (http://deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/).

Quicktime can also do it - although you might need the Pro version.

There's also the free Audacity sound editor as well.

Audacity is what I use too. You canmake the tracks sound great!

Fission is excellent for splitting, you just load up the track, put the cursor in each space between tracks, press APPLE+T to split, then when you save, it gives you a seperate audio file at each split point.

I use this sometimes when cutting up interviews.

I use CD SpinDoctor that comes with Toast. The while album side is one AIFF track, so use the marker to add a song break... they are usually easy to work out and a bit of fine tuning will get them spot on.

You can also select to save them as single tracks once you have marked the track breaks, then convert to mp3 via iTunes.
