Hi!

Well, my sisters iMacs internet randomly stopped working 2 days ago.
everything was fine and dandy before then, she was using it the night before, and then it just randomly stopped the next morning.

She rang dodo (provider), and they ran her through heaps of different shit never got it woking. they said that the modem is connected at there end. She went out and bought a new modem, so see if that was the issue.

macOS system prefrences state:

ethernet curently active and has an IP address of 192.168.0.2

but safari wont load webpages, and using the network utility thing to ping google comes up 100% lost.

Does anyone know what could be done? She is in aspendale gardens, VIC,, if that makes any difference.

Check DNS settings.
Put 130.95.128.2 into the DNS field of the Mac, and if you can load a webpage then you'll know for sure that's what it was. After that, look up Dodo's DNS IP address and set it to use that instead.

She rang apple tech support, and they told her to do the exact same thing.

after that is was a simple task of inserting the modem settings, which apple also guided her to do over the phone.

thanks for the help coxy.
