Forum, I have a problem.

My new Unibody Macbook Pro has become an addict.

The Process 'mds' has become heroin to it, and it can't get enough. Unfortunately, it's pegging my dual cores of awesomeness, and killing my battery life. Now I know it's a spotlight related indexing chore, but it hasn't stopped doing this. It will happily do its thing for days which, as you can imagine, makes mobile computing kinda hard when you can't use the battery much longer than 2 hours.

I can't kill the process, because it launches again immediately, and I'm pretty sure the whole 40Gb's of content would have been indexed hundreds of times by now.

Help me forum, my Macbook Pro is sick :(

Maybe try reindexing. Sounds like something has become corrupted.
Here is the way Apple recommends.
Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2409)

I was sure there was also a terminal command which forced Spotlight to delete its index and start again.
