I have a 3g iphone purchased thru Optus and officially unlocked, which works perfectly with my various SIM cards both Australian and Indonesian so no complaints with this.

My question is : I also own an iPhone 2g which has been "unofficially" unlocked and runs on OS 1.1.4. Is it possible to plug this 2g phone into iTunes and upgrade it to 2.2 or will that procedure turn it into a brick/ That is a risk i have not been prepared to take so far as actually it runs well on 1.1.4 but of course 2.2 has features i would like to have on the 2g phone.

If as per the above.. then my next question ... does anyone know of a way to have an iPhone 2g officially upgraded to ver 2.2 unlocked??

Any input very much appreciated......

Even if it does brick itself, just use QuickPwn to un-brick it.

There is no official way of getting your 2G iPhone unlocked. As for going to 2.2, plenty of people have done that successfully so you shouldn't fear doing it. Make a donation to mactalk and I believe Decryption will do it for you even.
