The iPhone Dev Team have confirmed that the iPhone 3G unlock, yellowsn0w, WILL work on the 2.2 software with baseband 02.28.00, despite them saying at the release of the 2.2 software that upgrading will mean that you won't get an unlock.

This is good news for people like me who accidentally upgraded their firmware through iTunes.

Yellowsn0w will be available later on today.

Great News! Not for me as mine's unlocked already but for others.

Look out for an increase in pre-paid iPhone sales.

awesome news. Already paid here and don't regret it but happy for others.

Hm, further reading doesn't confirm anything yet. It's just a teaser for the moment, though that's what it points to.

In a side observation, reading through the 1000 or so comments associated with that image on the dev team blog is slightly amusing, so many morons in the world.

And so the ebay flood begins - probably something nice to use if you bought a optus prepaid iPhone and then you could just wait out the 6 months with the unofficial unlock and then at 6 months get an official one.
