I would say so. International calls have historically been a cash cow for telcos and VOIP bypasses all that...case in point, everyone we know overseas now uses skype so we don't pay international calls at all any more.

If Optus were smart they would offer their own brand of "dial a local number and re-direct via the internet" rather than clutching at an old business model that has no relevance in the modern age

Optus are idiots, if they block this then people will just move onto calling via Skype, therefore Optus gets zero revenue.

All telcos just like the recording industry need to starting thinking of fresh ideas!
