My Epson C43UX was missing lines and dribbling black ink on the page... so I performed a head clean... and now it's flashing power/other light alternately and Printer Utility says it needs to be serviced by EPSON, and it will not respond to any commands.

Time for a new printer?

cheers

Travis

PS Sick of this throw-away technology age we live in.

Yes.
The 43UX/CX was designed as a throw away. Epson don't even repair them. Under warranty, they get replaced (as was my experience with them working at Officeworks)
It's throw away because you bought a $75 printer...
and it's a $75 printer because people want throw away products, even though most don't admit it... some kind of guilt thing from my experience...

I'd recommend the Canon PIXMA ip1000 if you're after another cheap throw away printer....
or the PIXMA ip5000 if you're after something good....

can you get mac printer drivers for those two? I've had **** all luck finding mac printer drivers for my Canon LBP-1210.

I have the iP5000 and it's a fantastic printer. Worked out of the box with my Macs.

Have a look at http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3 (open source package)

It supports the LPB1000 and LPB1260 so perhaps one of them will be compatible with your printer.

Hi,

It's probably to do with the waste ink tank. Seems to happen to all of them. Google for sscserve.exe if you can connect the printer to a PC.
Else, have a look here
