Hello all!

I finally got my new Macbook Pro which I am absolutely loving by the way!

My question is where can I get an optical cable that would fit into that 3.5 mil jack which would give me TOSLINK on the other end for my z5500 speakers?

Thanks in advance for anyone that helps :)

Steve

Ebay would be your cheapest option

Thanks!

I went into a Dick Smith store yesturday and asked a salesman if they sold them and the answer I got was "They don't exist", so I'll have to have another poke around.

Cheers

Have you tried JayCar if you want to walk into a store.

Yeah, I'm going to try Jaycar tomorrow (ran out of time yesterday!). Bit of a trek from where I live.

Hey Steve,

The item you're talking about is common with hi-tech music retailers. Considering you're in Perth try Music Park (http://www.musicpark.com.au/)

The adapter used by apple is called "Mini TOSLink". You can either get a TOSLink-Mini TOSLink cable, or a TOSLink-TOSLink and buy an adapter.

I might check out Music Park uncyherb, its on my way to the shops for me which is rather convenient.

Thanks for such quick responses guys! I must admit I never expected a reply so quickly

I, too, wanted one of these a couple of years ago when I got my MBP.

I found that the cheapest way to do it [and the most versatile] is to buy a regular TOSlink cable and a mini-TOSLink adapter to go on the end.

I bought mine from Radio Parts [don't think they exist in Perth] but Jaycar/Dick Smith etc. should have them.
