Tel$tra had announced various detrimental changes to their prepaid mobile plans to take effect on the 4th of November,

*Removal of international roaming on data packs (was the cheapest international roaming data going) and introduction of regular collusion & price gouging - now its $22,000GB!)

*Restricting extension of credit expiry with Me2U credits to 14 days

*Slight increases in call charges.

The good news for prepaid users who mainly use their phones for data is that the browse packs have dropped in line with the prepaid wifi pricing,

BROWSEPLUS5 $5 5 MB
BROWSEPLUS10 $10 100 MB
BROWSEPLUS29 $29 200 MB
BROWSEPLUS59 $59 750 MB
BROWSEPLUS89 $89 4 GB

Looks like competition is finally having an effect on the slumbering gorilla, for those in regional & remote areas that have no choice other than to use tel$tra this is good news!

I still think 10 bucks for 100MB isn't worth it, but for those only checking emails it may be.

I use data on my iPhone fairly often and rarely use more than 250mb (I have a 500MB plan), so 100mb is a fair bit for most normal people doing normal things.

Very nice.

I know I'll be going back to prepaid after my plan has ended - and this can only be good news. Previous data packs were horrifically expensive - even more so than their new counterparts.

Well, it's Telstra.

How about $5 for 5MB then? ;)

I find that the system that calculates your data usage on Telstra counts a lot more than what the iPhone reports. It's around 2-3mb off on a day to day basis when my iPhone tells me that I used around 6mb, so that can add up to being off by 60mb off.

At least you can add more when you're near their limit.
