Just a quick question all you peoples out there:

We have a PowerMac G3 Blue and White with a CD-RW. As Tiger only comes on DVD (unless you specifically ask for the CD-ROM version) is there any way to remotely install 10.4 from either another Mac (in this case my iBook) or from the secondary HDD in the PowerMac? Or will we have to go and borrow a DVD-ROM from someone?

Thanks for any help...

Yes you could. Heres how.

1. Connect the two computers with a Firewire cable.
2. Restart the PowerMac and hold T to start the 'FireWire Target Disk' mode. A firewire logo will appear.
3. On the iBook boot up the Tiger DVD.
4. In the installer, choose the PowerMac's hard drive that magical made its way to the iBook.
5. Let it install. It will take approximately 30 minutes.
6. Enjoy ;)
