The User>Library>iTunes>iPod Software Updates folder on my Mac has a gigabyte worth of files in it! Here is the file list:

iPod_129.1.1.5.ipsw
iPod_129.1.1.5.ipsw.signature
iPod1,1_1.1.3_4A93_Restore.ipsw
iPod1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw
iPod1,1_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw
iPod1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw
iPod1,1_2.1_5F137_Restore.ipsw

Are these backups that I can delete, or are they still important? I know a gigabyte is not supposed to be a lot these days, but I would like that space back. :-)

delete em. Even if you did need them again for some reason you can just download them again. Same with Iphone updates, probably no real reason to keep them. Keep the most recent one in case you have to restore for some reason.

Yeah I do a regular cleanout of the equivalent folder directory for my windows laptop. It only has like 90GB so I like to clean out the old updates I don't need. I found iPod mini ones in their the first time I did it (Gave it to my dad over a year ago)

Okay, thanks guys. All gone. :)

EDIT: Except for the most recent, like mitty said.
