View Full Version : Issue with burning disc

27th September 2008, 11:20 PM
Hi, all

I have been getting an error message when i am trying to burn discs with Toast Titanium.
I have tried to re-install it and the issue is still there.

The error message is:

"The drive reported an error:
Sense Code = 0x44, 0x86

Could anyone be able to tell what is causing this problem and why?
I am guessing from the message that the error is caused by faulty DVD burner?

Try another type of media or brand.
Burn at a slower speed.
Try another burning app (to see if it is really your hardware) or Disk Utility/Burn (free).

Apple - Support - Discussions - Nasty Burning and Disc Recognition ... (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5071609)

Tried resetting the PRAM? Oh and different media.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Huy.

I have tried it already but it still doesn't work.
I have tried it with DVD and DVD DL.
I have tried to use different speed.

But it still doesn't work.......

AHT (Apple Hardware Test) time.
Intel-based Macs: Starting up into Apple Hardware Test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)

If not, AppleCare time. :p

So you did the reset?

I would say take it in for a trip at apple if no one else has any suggestions!

EDIT: Ninja'd AGAIN.

Thanks everyone.

I took the MacBook Pro into StreetWise today and hopefully they can sort it out asap.

Since it's still under warranty so I am happy to take it in otherwise I might not since it will probably cost a fortune to fix it. :D

Probably will just replace the drive.

Make sure when you get it back you check for any damage, scatches, dents, etc and clean the machine up from fingerprints etc.

Just to make sure nothing has gone wrong with the repair (if required).
