Get out there and start taking some :P

It's a pity, I can get you a couple high res pics of Sydney, but not Melbourne... Besdies, if you do find some, they'll probably try and charge you $$$ for it!

I've got a nice one of sydney for dual screen, and one of tokyo, but I really want one of Melbourne seeing I live here and all... ;)

and i cbf going taking photos, I don't have the best camera either. :(

I took some shots of Melbourne by night when I was there last October with
my Nikon D70. They were actually taken 'at night' not in the 'magic hour'
when day turns to night though.

What do you need them for?

Just for my desktop, 1600x1200 res

i don't wanna sell them or anything, I currently have a tokyo by night photo on my desktop, i just want a melbourne one.

if you want, you can email me them at rob@mrpsolutions.com.au

Melbourne hasn't exactly got a very good skyline though. I reckon Sydney's is a lot better. Although at certain places the Melbourne skyline looks pretty good. The view from Clown Casino (A World Of Disappointment) isn't too bad.

yr kidding rite, sydney is very pretty from certain places but the cbd of sydney is full of old ugly buildings being a former melbournite who lives now in sydney i can attest to that fact, melbourne from the yarra at night is stunning the view also from bolte bridge looking towards the city with colonial stadium is breathtaking. just thought id share my thoughts cheers

Thanks guys, I already checked out google, they have hardly any good quality large photos of night time melbourne.

but i did find some nice ones here.

the one i got of Tokyo is from here, http://www.vladstudio.com/home/
this one of Tokyo is the kind of skyline I was looking for in Melbourne.

I've got a great view of all Melbourne from my place, I've asked a photographer (friend of mine) to come over my place on Tuesday to take some pics with her pro camera, she said cool :D
When I get em, I will post em here, they should be nice, hopefully the night will be clear ;)

check out http://www.mattirwin.com - he does amazing photos of Melbourne - maybe you can get hi res images from his site.

30th April 2005, 04:13 AM
Yeah, he's got a few really nice ones, but I don't want to pay for em :P

They are too low res to copy em off the website and blow it up.

I have these images of Melbourne (well, I think it is Melbourne???).
Let me know if any of them suit your needs as I have them as 30MB files.

I can see them . . . and I live in Adelaide! I'm non technical, but all I did was click the blue vertical line mover, and up they came.

Here are some nice skyline pics of Sydney, done by a good friend. They are copyright to him. So if you want to use them as a desktop or whatever that is cool.... just don't sell them etc etc.

Must be the speed of our connections. I can't see more than the fact that an image was attached.. somewhere. Maybe it is because I have offsite cookies banned.

Anyway, who said Sydney had no vantage points for good high res images of the CBD?
I recommend http://www.bridgeclimb.com/experience_frs.htm
I recommend the 360˚view
but the Photo Gallery (http://www.bridgeclimb.com/photogallery.htm) with a selection of images depicting BridgeClimb activities and Sydney Harbour views. The gallery features 48 photos! ... is the place to look.

I can't seem to chop them down small enough for the upload limit of this site ..so yeah .. get the big files.

editedto removestupid attached image link
and to attach one of their thumbnails
