Does anyone know where I can buy an iPhone outright without any contracts. More specifically which stores do it.

Best deal would be with Optus Im assuming?

Cheers.

eBay atm. I think that's about it for now.

I bought mine on opening day from t-life sydney ... but I saw a report here on the forums recently that they stopped doing it. Bastards.

Optus prepaid are pretty rare so you'll have to ring up a few places. The tlife store might sell you the 8gb

I think your best bet is Optus prepaid which is available I believe in Sydney but since you're not, ask around.

I am pretty sure they will sell you one prepaid.
$729 8GB
$849 16GB
$80 unlock.

Unless prices have changed.

UPDATE:
New information coming through from Gizmodo:

You can still pick up a pre-paid iPhone 3G, but only from the George street Optus Store in Sydney. Apparently it's got something to do with stock issues, but when asked whether or not it was a permanent change, we got the old "no comment".

Telstra is no longer selling 16gb's outright. You can still pick up an 8gb though. Don't forget the $150 unlock fee (if you want it unlocked).
