View Full Version : Intel Webcam Problems...

Hi all,

I have an intel webcam (about 2 years old) - I cant seem to get it working on my iBook.

The camera works without any problems on my XP box... given my recent switch, i want to try get it working on my iBook.

So far everything else i have plugged in 'Just Works' ™. Digital cam, mice, printers etc etc. Even the old Kyocera FS7000 at work with a simple driver install!

Once it's plugged in, it appears in the system profiler under the USB devices...so i assume that its is recognised in some from by OSX, but from here i'm stuck.

i'm not sure what application i need to use to actually use the thing, or if i need some sort of driver...i have no idea what to do next! I tried iChat, but it insists that there are no cameras connected. And so far i havent found much searching google...

Any insight would be great....

And before anyone says it:
i know....buy an iSight ;)

Thanks doughnut...!

Neither of those seem to support the camera though...its an Intel CS330.

I'm guessing there is no way to access the camera directly with some generic driver...or whatever, though OSX?

A quick Google and it seems that your webcam just isn't supported by X, or any third party drivers.

So its iSight or bust!

Thanks for your help.

no no.. iSight isnt the only webcam that will work on a mac... pretty much all logitech ones work aswell as pretty much any well known brand one over $40 :P

Looks like its time for an upgrade :D

Any suggestions apart from the entire logitech range?
