View Full Version : Hynix Fined $185 Million For Price Fixing

Ever think you were paying to much for ram.
Well you were.
Hynix have been fined $185 million US for Price fixing.
This is not the first time a memory maker has been charged with price fixing
In September 2004 Infineon Tech Executives were charged and convicted of price fixing and four executives are currently serving jail sentences.Infineon paid a $160 million fine.

dont forget though that also in a way that apple do price fixing by in regards not allowing 3rd party products to work in their systems that they sell to us (well they do work some of em but we have to find them

Apple don't sell RAM anymore (as from late last year). So I would have to disagree.

Actually they do, and it's a bloody ripoff. Price up a 1gb upgrade from http://www.apple.com.au/store/ for a Mac Mini if you've got the time.

..and that's an upgrade. ie: "We take your 256mb, we give you 1gb"

There's AppleCentres out there doing it for 1/2 that, installed and with a lifetime warranty.

Ok, let me rephrase that. Apple don't sell RAM unless it's with and installed into a Mac. Previous to late last year, you could buy a Mac then 6 months later upgrade that RAM with Apple branded modules.

how about airport cards and/ or camptible wireless network cards out of the box ?
bluetooth usb modules ?
