Had my iPhone 3G unlocked from Telstra weeks ago. But suddenly got this when I plugged it in for charging today. I clicked cancel for now.

Is this the 2.0.1 firmware update? If so, why is it termed "carrier settings" then? I've already unlocked my 3G, and it's using a Savvytel Sim now. It can't possibly be Savvytel can it?

Any of you got this message too weeks after unlocking? Any advice guys? Thanks in advance.

Oh yea, i'm using iTunes 7.7 (WinXP).

It appears when you put firmware 2.0.1 on, this comes up constantly and thus fails each time. It's widely documented on the apple forums from people all over the world.

My phone is doing it, and I wish apple would fix things so that the carrier update either works (or no longer comes up).

You are not the only one with the problem.

But I haven't update my firmware to 2.0.1. I'm still at 2.0.

I'm sticking to 2.0 for now cos I heard some phones being locked again after updating to 2.0.1. Be sticking to 2.0 for now.

And since i'm still on FW 2.0, does it still mean the prompt to update carrier settings is cos of the availability of 2.0.1?

Our iPhone classic on pwned 2.0 also does this, so don't think it's specific to 2.0.1. May just be timing.
