Not sure about that model, but I have a feeling that SE release their firmware with localization settings (i.e. language) across the board.
That being said, there may be an italian firmware out there
I'd check some of the other phone hacking sites out there

this site might help you
UCSE Forum - Unofficial Club Sony Ericsson Forum - Index (http://www.clubsonyericsson.com/forum/index.php)

i think all you need to do is change the product code and use the firmware update program

If the Sony Ericsson Update Service application doesn't have a firmware update for your phone that includes Italian, then the best bet is to use Davinci Team's utilities to get a European Firmware.

DavinciTeam - Welcome on our Site..... (http://davinciteam.co.uk)

S500 i/c Page:
DavinciTeam - Group / SonyEricsson Type: S500 / ChipClass: DB2020 (http://davinciteam.co.uk/S500/en_index.html)

Latest firmware version seems to be R8BE001 (http://davinciteam.co.uk/phone_details_S500i_R8BE001_CID53.html) and this version generic seems to support Italian, along with English, French and German:
S500i R8BE001 CID53 GENERIC SWITZERLAND EUROPE_5 - EN FR DE IT

Regards,
Shane.

The funny thing is that my old Sony Ericcson (also got here) had Italian among the other languages, while this has heaps of Asian languages...
Maybe because the previous was 3 while this one is Virgin?

Thanks for the hints guys!!!

Thanks for the hints guys!!!

Could be due to a number of things
Like where they are flashed etc

AFAIK Virgin has alot of operations based around the Phillipines
that may have some influence, but I doubt it
