Hi all,

Going down to Adelaide for a while for work and wondering where some good places to eat might be

I'll mainly be in the City and North Adelaide.

Cheers

You can't go past Quiet Waters (http://www.igougo.com/entertainment-reviews-b64683-Adelaide-Quiet_Waters.html) that's at the east end of Hindley Street. Best Lebanese food ever, truly traditional, and the prices are very good as well -- top value all round. Oh, and if you & your friends (always best to dine with friends, their banquets are awesome!) praise the chefs and thank Jamil for the food, he might come out for dessert and treat you all to some traditional Lebanese style coffee.

what styles and price range?

gouger st has lots of good cheap places, pretty much all around the market really..
my favourites would be wah hing for chinese.. gauchos for steaks.. ding hao for yum cha.. charlie's shack for vietnamese beef noodle soups..

in the markets itself is lucias, great ravioli..

red hot brazilian grill for all you can eat grilled meats for $32, pretty basic setting, but hey you're not there for the interior decorating :)

rundle st end has amalfi for italian.. i don't hang out there much these days so not sure what new places there might be..

off rundle mall is hawkers corner for great malaysian food, lunches only though..
plug for the korean place in the building my family owns: Seoul Restaurant. service is a little slow but the food is great, lunch bento boxes are really good value

the edinburgh castle on the west end of town has a really good $10 dinner menu if you're looking to save some cash, everything is $10 and pretty decent serves and well presented..

if you're looking for schnitzels, here's a site that's been reviewing places;
Schnitzel Review! - Chow's Photo of The Day: Schnitzel Review Edition (http://www.jgkp.com/main.html)

they've started doing indian places as well..

North adelaide has lots of options [this is my local area ;)]:
has a great 24 hr bakery if you get hungry at odd hours..
most the nth adelaide pubs have reasonably good dining rooms: royal oak is pretty good, as is the queens head, oxford, archer..
Saizen has a good sushi train, regent thai is good, beyond india is good [but a bit pricey]..
paesano does decent cafe italian and pizzas..
Old Lion further down at melbourne st, opposite is the Store for great breakfasts, Bocca has good italian..
the british has great steaks in the beer garden..

ahh that's all i can think off the top of my head at the moment..
give us more info and we can narrow it down for you :D

if in doubt and around the city, wander round the central market area, pretty much everything is there..

For great Indian, go to Jasmin (Jasmin Indian Restaurant - Home (http://www.jasmin.com.au/) - check out the awards) in the city or Beyond India in North Adelaide.
