So I decided to email the feedback section on adelaidemetro.com.au basically asking if they'll actually make either a web app or native app for timetable readings/whatnot..

If you adelaide folk are interest too, be good to send'em an email to say that it's what we want to see. :)

Yeah, this'd definetly go on my iPod touch :-).

(already use the java app on my Nokia)

yeh that would be great.

You mean people still use public transport in Adelaide :-)

Just kidding, even though i am an infrequent public transport user, i think it would be a fantastic idea. +1

The java app on mobiles was near useless, and with the frequency at which timetables are changed, it 's outdated before you get a chance to use it.

I just wait at the stop until a bus shows up. They're usually 15 minutes apart anyway.

What would be great is if they could tie in the GPS they use on the buses. I have two options of buses to catch home from work, with the stops about 150m apart from eachother. Often if I chose one, the one I choose is late, and I see the other bus go sailing past. Now if you could see where your bus is, on a map, then you know exactly which one to catch, and how far off it is.
I'm not holding my breath though

That *would* be cool :D

Cheaper than installing those funky displays at a few bus stops saying how far the next bus will be and whatnot...

Just email yourself the timetables that you download from Adelaide Metro. Granted Its not the easiest way to view the Time tables but it does the job.

It's a good idea.
would be good with GPS integration so it can tell which buses or transport you could use from where you are.

Those displays are woefully inaccurate. I have one at the stop near my house too, and it is never correct. I've even seen it count UP before!

Hey Guys

I've written such an app now, called TransitTimes Adelaide, available at http://transittimes.com.au (app store link: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/transittimes-adelaide/id408240998?mt=8)

Works on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

I've got 10 promo codes to give away on here - just request one in this thread and I'll message you the code. All I ask for in return is either a rating or review for the app on the app store

Cheers!

Looks to be a very useful app, congrats Quentin. However I am retired and use my car to get about so feel the codes should go to those that would use them.

Keep up the good work and show there are Apple users here and maybe we'll get a real Apple Store in Adelaide one day.

Any chance I can have a code? When i went to sydney I fell in love with their transport apps always wished we had one!

Could I have a code as well? I'm in Adelaide visiting family frequently and would love to test this app out and see how it compares to it's NSW counterpart.

Purchased it. From the screenshots alone it looks worth it. How will it go about updating data when the timetables change next Monday (17th January)? Is it linked to Adelaide Metro in some way? Cheers for the app.

Would definitely be interested in trying this and reviewing it on the App Store. I don't get out and about as much as i'd like to (except for the daily work commute), so perhaps this will change that. :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm in the process of finishing up some updates - just waiting on Adelaide Metro to release the new data feed (which is supposed to be later today), then there will be a new version with the latest timetables (although knowing Apple, that could take an extra week unfortunately - I'm adding in-app updates shortly to alleviate this).

I sent codes to those who requested them - if I missed you just send me a direct message

Cheers

Quentin you're brilliant! No longer live in Adelaide but do use PT when there a lot. I now live in Melbourne and looooove the TramTracker app I still think it's one of the most functional PT apps there is.

Thanks Marcsteel, hopefully it will come it handy next time you're in Adelaide

If you - or anyone else on here - wants a promo code (or wants one for my Perth version, or both) and are willing to submit a review or rating on the app store, just post here and I'll send through a code.

Got a new version of both coming out shortly (submitting to app store today) which addresses a few issues and adds some new features.

Don't suppose you'll give me a code for my upcoming one-off visit to Adelaide.
I tried to follow the link to:
http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/publish_article/mobile_data.html
but I get the Google error stating my computer may be harmed!!!

Dont be a tight ass and pay the few $ for the app. :p

It'll cost you more than that for a bus/train/tram ticket while you are here anyhow.

HendX

Hi macaholic,

I've just sent you a promo code - enjoy!

I'm aiming shortly to add the ability to enter your start and finish locations and it'll find desired routes (far more complex than it sounds)

I've contacted Adelaide Metro about their Malware listing...

Cheers
