View Full Version : Who remembers the Muppet Show?

I loved the Muppets when I was young and one of my favourite acts on the show was Dr Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker. The Swedish Chef was pretty cool too.

So.... Without further adieu. Beaker and Ode to Joy.

Liked it when I was a kid... but these days all I've managed to really come across are the movies, which really do nothing for me... and the revival series/es were pretty lame...

That Ode to Joy video is new, as are a few other Muppet videos on Youtube. Statler and Waldorf are also heckling a few other vids on Youtube.

All the new ones are tagged with 'virmup (http://youtube.com/results?search_query=virmup)', which is causing some speculation that there may be a new Muppet series coming.

My favourite is Sam the Eagle's 'Star and Stripes Forever' :D

I love the sweedish chef as well, he's my fave :) I hear there's a new Muppet movie apparently being made soon - written by some dude 'Jason Segel' - ROTTEN TOMATOES: Jason Segel to Write New Muppet Movie (http://au.rottentomatoes.com/m/muppet_movie/news/1672530/jason_segel_to_write_new_muppet_movie)

Animal was *the* man back in the day. I still like them these days when they pop up on TV. For our younger readers Kermit had a song which got quite high in the charts which indicates how popular they were.

WHen that little guy goes on Rove Live, well that's just something special!

I thought Elmo was Sesame Street not the Muppets.

Anyhoo - I just loved Miss Piggy - such a drama queen!

I remember in grade 4 or 5 I had the Muppet Sticker book. Man I was so proud when I got that thing filled. So much bad chewing gum to get there!

Oh how I loved the Muppet Show and it's spin-off movies and "cast albums". Made the second half of the 1970's a fun time to be alive.

Disney have released series 1 and 2 of the Muppet Show on DVD and now my kids can enjoy the nonsense, as can I all over again. Hopefully the remaining series will be out soon.

...and now, Veterinarian's Hospital, the story of a quack who's gone to the dogs...

(Piggy) "Dr Bob, the patient is here for a sore throat"
(Rowlf hits patient's throat with hammer) "There, that should do it."
(Bernice) "No Dr Bob, I think he has a frog in his throat"
(Kermit sticks his head out of monster's month) "That's it - this sketch is over"
(voiceover, all characters look to the roof) "And so we say farewell to Dr Bob. Tune in next week, when nurse Piggy says..."
(Piggy) "Dr Bob - you really should clean up this theatre - it's a real mess"
(Kermit sticks his head ouf of monster's mouth again) "That's nothing - you should see it in here."

Haha, gotta love this show.....

Why can't Missy Piggy count to 70, cos when she get's to 69, she get a frog in her throat:D:D:D:D

Sad but true fact about Tae... I actually had recurring nightmares about The Count for about a year and a half.

It was always the same. We are all having fun in the big resort swimming pool at the old Tikki Village in Surfers. Then the water would turn red... The Count was cutting off people's fingers and toes so he could count higher.

I still can't see The Count without wondering what his alterior motives are.

Wacha wacha wacha...

Loved the muppets. Beaker and Gonzo were my favourites. My oldest boy (now 5) used to run screaming from the room when I tried to introduce the show to his viewing menu - scarey old muppets :-)

Muppet Treasure Island is a fantastic movie, even by today's standards.
