View Full Version : Post your Dock

Hi All,

I guess this sort of ties in with Post your desktop, but here you can post your dock. I don't know why, but I thought it might be fun to see how big your docks are, or how small.

I will start with:
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5746/dock26708bottomscreenmc9.png

I think they all speak for themselves. I only keep the basic apps in my dock, beacuse at 800x600 (iBook Clamshell), you haven't got much screen real estate.

So post your dock here, and if you have some unsual apps, tell us what they are.

Cheers

How are all you guys getting these screenshots without Grab or another app, because none of you appear to have a screen-grabbing app in your Docks.
If there is an app you use, then I'd really like to know about it.

I had upgraded from Tiger to Leopard a few months back,

it through System Preferences. I don't even use Spaces so
don't know why I put it there anyway!

You might as well hide the Dock then, chrome?
And remove Download/Document Stacks?

:)

chrome
27th July 2008, 08:20 PM
Nope, I use the dock to switch apps and the documents stack is meticulously structured to allow quick access to particular classes of files. Downloads only holds a few files, so its also handy there.

But to be honest, I miss OS 9's application switcher. I'd be happy to lose the dock permanently.

Same, except replace spotlight with quicksilver. I even use quicksilver to open applications that are already running because instead of worrying if something is open were is it etc, i just say "i want" and if it needs to load so what :)

Hi All,

I need help again :D.

I am trying to take a screenshot of my iMacs dock to post here using the whole cmd+shift+4 thing, but when I capture the image it saves a PDF?
That's not good for uploading to ImageShack. I am using 10.2.8, but why does it save in a useless PDF format, when I obviously want a picture?

Thanks.

You can use Preview to save PDFs as jpgs. Also, from quickly googling, I found this:

Download ScreenMat 1.0 for Mac - ScreenMat - Change Default Screenshot File Formats - Softpedia (http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Graphics/ScreenMat.shtml)

Also, refer here:

Mac OS X 10.2: Screen Shots Are Saved in PDF, May Be Converted (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107078)

It's much easier to change screenshot formats in Tiger and above. Just a single command in Terminal does it.

The only reason these apps are here is because they are open. I use Spotlight as an app launcher.
