View Full Version : iTunes 7.7 Replacing Foreign Accented Characters with mumbo jumbo

Has anyone experienced this in iTunes 7.7?

I've had accented characters in my Spanish music, or artists such as Björk when I select the song to be played. For instance, Björk becomes Bj^rk and it screws up Cover Flow with a duplicating album cover.

Recently, it only managed to rename half of my Gotan Project, Lunático album. Which is seriously weird.

EDIT - OK. Known problem, but not confirmed by Apple yet. Found this thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1593945&tstart=0)
on the Apple Support Discussion site - and it lists to Convert all MP3 ID3 tags to v2.4 - which I am currently doing (10,000+ songs....this will take prob a few hours!).

*sigh*

Sounds like an ID3 tag problem to me. Try changing the IDZ version of on of the tracks to v2.4 [Advanced -> Convert ID3 Tags, select 2.4].

Yep - I did that. Took me over an hour to convert all the tags. But I think it's stable now.

So did all the tags go back to normal, or did you have to fix them?

Well, I made sure they were already all fixed up, and then I converted them. So now when I play the files with the accents, they stay as accents and not altered into jargon.
