There's quite a few good free apps at the app store and a few that are junk a few of my free favourites would be
1. Tap Tap Revenge
2. Remote (had to adjust firewall settings to make work)
3. Pangea VR - an app that allows you to view panoramic pictures and adjust with the accelerometer.

Twitterific is nice (very polished) but I can't view anyone's tweets' but my friends!

I think I prefer Twittelator (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=284698706&mt=8) as it can do full Twitter features including everyone feed. It needs a little more refinement but it is fully free.

None of them do location based filtering yet though...

I also want a real IM app that can do AIM, MSN etc.

Regards,
Shane.

is anyone else missing the old 1.x apps?

Last.fm is out (but not in australia, and Apple doesn't allow apps to run in the background so no scrobbling from iPod).

Would be awesome if AIM would support Bonjour, and show message count badges when you get a message, and are not in the app. I thought Apple said there was a "push service"?

1. REMOTE (by far!!) - does what's it's suppose to do, convenient, doesn't crash and free!

2. MIMVista - this is what I do at work. ;) Trying to convince the boss to let everyone have an iPhone as part of the business, so we can share data and patient cases easily.

3. Shazam - well, free for the time being. This just works. And it has a nice interface.

Disappointed with Evernote - so much potential, but keeps on booting me back to the Home screen. Facebook - yeah, cool app, but their website for the iPhone does the job.

Yes I have noticed that! Even though the website for iPhone is very sleek and streamline, I think the Facebook app just gives you the essentials. And it's much easier to update things or just check out the latest from your friends. Very good app.

i got this working on my mac without issues - just setup Screen Sharing (System Preferences -> Sharing -> Tick Screen Sharing) and also enabled password control, (From the screen sharing menu choose Computer Settings -> 'VNC Viewers may control screen with a password') enter a password and hit OK.

Then in VNC Lite just enter the IP address of the machine and the password you specified. Works fine within my LAN. If you would like to access the machine from the internet you will need to configure port forwarding (5900 from memory) to the machine you are trying to connect to.

I have a similar problem. The tracks take for ever to download. The app then asks do I want to 'play on easy/medium/whatever" If I choose yes, I get to hear the new track and play, if I click no then the track doesn't appear as downloaded.

Now, if i have clicked yes and played the new track, when I come back to choose it again later it is gone from the list...... frustrating as I'm getting very hooked on this game.

I use the web app meebo - online web IM for AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk messengers (http://www.meebo.com) which is pretty smooth to use, shows when you have new messages, easy to get back to contacts list, etc.

IM apps won't take off till apple releases the iPhone update later in the year that will overcome the inability of apps to run in the background. as all IM apps should.

not that I would ever suggest replacing your real books, but a handy little item to have in one's pocket.
