It's been screaming at me for weeks, and I haven't noticed it.

ABC - Wednesday nights - 'Absolute Power' - A cracker of a comedy, featuring Stephen Fry, and a whole slew of powerbooks. Last night he was calling in to work on his powerbook, and one of the people in the office was walking around with her powerbook, and a huge iSight stuck on top of it, talking to him.
[/b]

Yeah, I thought someone would have mentioned this by now. As well as the aforementioned powerbooks, in the second series (just about finished on the ABC) the office is kitted out with a whole bunch of G4 iMacs.

I am guessing that the writers are no fan of Windows. In the episode "Spinning America" Charles Prentiss (Stephen Fry) ispondering why government policies have to have silly names rather than being named like computer software: -

"Bollocks 1.0"
"Bollocks 1.1"
"Bollocks XP Home Edition...." :D

Guess you had to be there...

The other was at the beginning og Law and Order, Criminal Intent...a real estate chick was using one (my wife saw it actually..."Hey there's a computer like yours") just before finding an house full of butchered bodies.

Regarding Stephen Fry on Absolute Power - there was an article onhim in MacFormat a couple of months ago where he claims he is Britain's biggest Apple fan, his kit includes a couple of PowerBooks, a couple of G5s, and a few ageing Macs, so that's why there was the references to Windows on that show I guess!

Was asked over to friends house last night - only to discover also a nice shiny new white MacBook + Airport Express!

My friends are NOT Mac users - but after hearing me rave about them - he decided to buy one for his wife (oh yeah which will allow him via AirTunes to play all his CD through his home theatre system).

Helped them set things up - and it seems he was jealous of my wireless music so wanted to try it out himself!

Yep, the program was made by the ex-coach of the Kookaburras, Terry Walsh. He bought a number of Powerbooks from the store I used to work at (AppleCentre Joondalup). Great bloke, and a fantastic bit of software. It can be adapted for pretty much any sport. Last I heard he was on his way to the US to crack the NFL/NBA/NHL markets.

If you look on their website, they use Visual Basic and V6 for their program. I've seen a number of PC's in the coaches boxes too, so I'm guessing there are competing programs out there. I definitely know Terry's program was Macintosh-based, as we updated his computer to 10.4 while he was trialling a new update.

95% of US shows on TV use Mac's. Almost every bloody one I watch has a mac or two. 'Smith' has a powermac in the home, 'War at Home' as an iMac G5 or Intel at home, 'Veronica Mars', always has her powerbook with her. 'Ugly Betty', the boss has a PowerBook and the creative director has an iBook, the list is endless...

But as a famous producer said 'we use macs, because they're usually what we're using in the office, so it's easy to pick them up and put them down on set, and also they are more visually appealing on screen'...

and as Ziva said in 'NCIS' 'At mossad we used macs' ;)

Good thing we Mac users can largely fend for ourselves. Though with the Mac's growing market share, and the expected huge success of the iPhone, Telstra might change its tune.

Love this about ugly betty, plenty of apple machines with the apple logo covered with some weird sticker.

You can tell that daniels one is a Powerbook due to the lack of an iSight on the bezel and wilhemena uses an iBook - fairly outdated machines :P

They also vary the dekstops on them from fake ones that use a windows XP motif, to the true ones when they are actually interacting with the machine which is indeed OSX.

Yeah I saw a similar add tonight - wasn't paying too much attention (was on the phone) - but it looked like an add protecting our children from accessing inappropriate material on the web - looked like a recent LCD iMac to me.

I'm gonna jump in early:

In episode 2 of Californication, Hank (David Duchovny) uses a MacBook Pro in an Apple store to write a blog after his Dell crashes and he throws it against the wall.

I can't reveal my sources ;) Watch Ch10 at 9:45 this Monday night to see for yourself.

Funny show, by the way, and there's some naughty bits as a bonus :p

Shame CH 10 showed the repeat...
those uninitiated will have to wait until next week!

Spotted a lot of Macs in Californication tonight on Ch 10.

Hank, the main character, decides to throw his Thinkpad across the room and smash it. He then goes to the NYC Apple Store and uses a MacBook, surrounded by other Macs, to write a blog post.

And then later on, he's in his daughter's room, and in the background on the desk, is a BlackBook with the MagSafe connected.

The same white iPod Video also pops up about 3 times.

I'd already mentioned the Apple Store MackBook (Pro) last week... TV viewers are so slow :p

And, I think the store must have been in LA... unless Hank flew from LA to NYC just to use a Mac :)

Anyways, great show. Reminds of Dexter (oh wait! TV viewers wouldn't have heard of that one - google it. He uses a Mac) and Arrested Development (shown on CH7 at ridiculous times a couple of years ago, but well worth looking out for on DVD - Can't remember seeing any Macs... too busy laughing).

Didn't look like the NYC store to me. Looked more like a smaller Mall/Shopping Centre Apple Store they have in the US & UK.

What a promo spot though, I was waiting for the voice-over and logo to pop up!

I know you mentioned it, but in very little detail ;)

It was definatly the NYC store. Check out the staircase in the middle.

And the viewers dont have to know it's in NYC as opposed to LA :P

The London Apple store has exactly the same staircase. I think most Apple stores of that size do. Doesn't the NYC one have a glass lift in the middle and not a staircase?

Yes, they do.

I came across a new series of Flash Gordon, while searching that new *cough* Internet based channel. ;) Quite a few Macs in it, but most run that special Hollywood OS with the unrecognisable interface, a few run Mac OS X and one was running Windows.

I assume this was at UQ...the Biology building (Goddard) has them everywhere as well...barely a Windows box in sight. All the Ecology lecturers use them as well...this one poor old fella kept getting angry at his coz Powerpoint for Mac wouldn't let him play bits of a DVD properly...I was so very tempted to slip him a trial of iWork '08 ;)

This thread is a little pointless isn't it?

I mean, I have not seen an ad in a LONG time that did not have SOME apple gear in it. (
At least an iPod - or the white ear bugs)

The BLOODY ANYOYING thing is when 99.9999% of the ad's have been painstakingly photoshoped to remove all apple logos.

I sware if the general public knew that they do infact know what mac look like, they see them all the time!

The funny thing is.. they see these nice machienes (Mac's) in all the ad's for whatever (craploads), and they they go down to there local [Insert crappy PC only dealer] and wonder why they all look like shit.

"But they don't look like shit on the TV, they look nice and smooth, and shiny, not bulky & rough"
