For those of you who have downloaded iTunes 7.7, go to preferences then display apps. Once done, click on the left on Applications, on the bottom right you see 'Get More Apps..'. Select that, and it takes you to the app store!

Download! Go crazy!

I couldn't see the "Applications" link in the store's sidebar but the "power search" link lets you limit it to just applications. Searching for "monkey" got me some direct links to apps and then you can go up a section to the full store.

Woo Hoo. Btw, Most would have guessed this but there are more apps on the US site so I think if you have a US sign in then use it. I hope the iphone, and doubt, will care or tell the difference. Then again you probably wont be able to buy Aussie particular Apps on the US store. However long story short I think you can only sync one Applications folder. Could be wrong but with ipod I sacrificed 6 games for the US only game Scrabble.
Hopefully there is a workaround. Probably download a free version from each store and see if it's possible to get them on the same iphone.

I just gave it the following review:

I tried this application and was disappointed by how good he sound quality is! There were no pops, clicks or hisses. I would dare says that the chances of a good old fashioned crossed line are very slim to.

Because of this I can only award the application four out of five stars. Hopefully future versions will make the experience closer to a real rotary phone.

yes, use your US account to get the better price. After allowing for GST there is an approximate 9 or 10 percent markup for the OZ store. Reasonable to allow for exchange rate fluctuations if they were actually shipping the product. Thing is, though, as it is on the US server, wouldn't it be great to have an automagically adjusting selling price that follows the exchange rate? I think that would be cool. As in "ha ha I got it 3 cents cheaper than you paid yesterday!"

Wow...a lot of crap...which you pay for. No thanks.

Too many games.

Yeah got to say App store quite a let down thus far. Consdering SOO many developers missed out on being accepted, there is a LOT of crud applications there.

Also disappointing to see very little use of the location aware feature. There is a movie theatre App that detects where you are and shows you the nearest screenings but unfortunately it's USA only.

Hopefully we will see more quality Apps appear over the next few months but so far not a lot to get excited about.

I think touch owners will need to purchase the 2.0 software update first.

Hrm, 'Digital Thought Software' seems to be catering to a pretty specific market. Not only is there 'CowToss', where you toss a cow, there's also goCow, where you bounce a cow.

Edit: Yeah, the 2.0 software will probably be made available tomorrow sometime. If you take a look at the requirements, many of the apps say 'compatible with iPhone and iPod touch, requires iPhone 2.0 software'.

Would I sound like a complete wanker if I said these iPhone apps are like discovering technology for the first time? Holy shit the possibilities are endless here.

And the irony in a way, is that these apps which bring true mobile infomation technology to anyone who knows how to use a phone, is mass market.

Now all we need is some more Aussie specific apps so I can roam the streets like a really annoying knowitall with the answers to all the commonly asked questions like "What's showing at the Nova this Friday?"

"Well, funny you should ask......"

How are you making purchases?

I get "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."

I like Sketches, too.

This is serious!!! Apple is so so with it. They will make far more with this than the revenue sharing game.

Whaaaa!??? Apparantly apple thinks that 9.99 USD = 12.99AUD ????
That is really unfair. It should be $10.50, or $11.50 at max, but a whole $2.50 premium? That is not fair.

well considering that $9.99 US is probably without 10% tax (think that's right for america) and our includes GST, then that sounds about the right conversion I'm afraid.

.... If you're smart you'll buy up some $50 iTunes cards from BigW while they're selling them for $30 each - saving of 40%. That means $12.99 - 40% = $7.79 - and that's way cheaper than buying from the US store.

(I just got back home with my $100 credit (2 x $50) which only cost $60 - cool!:D)

- you can't..... yet. You need to wait for the v 2.0 software which should be out late tonight / early tomorrow morning. You'll need to buy ($12.99 probably) and install this first. Then there will be a new tab 'apps' when you click on your iPod, which you can then select to sync with your iPod Touch.

The Apple Remote app is very neat also - you can select playlists, songs, albums or artists, search your library for a particular song, change volume, play/pause/FF/RW, start music videos, podcasts, movies or TV shows - and all with an interface that's almost exactly like the iPod function on your iPhone.

It appears you can save connections to more than one library on your iPhone and switch between them quite easily. Setting up the connection is like pairing an Apple TV - a code appears on the iPhone screen and you enter the code in iTunes to confirm the link.

Hopefully the remote feature in iTunes 7.7 is incorporated into the next Apple TV software release too.
