Leave it for Palm or Windows Mobile mate! The ugly blue background is a nice touch :)

I thought Apple would have had some stringent GUI standards in the SDK...

But Apple shows you designs that work, white and light grey are nice. Why couldn't they copy the color scheme from Apple? Its not that hard...

I'm curious as to what you were searching for to come up with that. :p

Edit: Look how out of place the "spent" button is. Not only does it not line up with any other button, it isn't even centred in the blue column that it sits in.

Looks like one of my client's Word documents - the more colours and different formatting the better...

May I ask. What does this particular app do?

Looks to be some sort of calender, without calender view.

From what ive heard, the applications are reviewed before they hit the store, so shit like this doesn't appear.

Stevens Creek Software (http://stevenscreek.com/) also have another iPhone product called (I kid you not) 'Handy Randy'. Its interface is just as, um, 'colourful' as the one at the top of the thread.

lol they could have put a tad more effort into making it a semi attractive app...

Good concept though, I wonder how many apps will be available on the 11th? It would be good if they had trial versions, Or rental periods like over semesters for students.

What does it even do? It is way to confusing for your average person.

That's F&^*ing terrible!

As someone said, WIndows 95 Cyan, yuck!

They need to split it up into a few different screens, and read the iPhone user interface guidelines guide.

You read the details how it works? TripLog/1040 for iPhone (http://stevenscreek.com/iPhone/triplog.htm)

No consistency with other iPhone apps.

For example, 'double-tap to edit' in a list. What the? There should be an Edit button at the top, that you click, and then you can click the minus next to each item to delete or click the item itself to edit it.

Multi button dialog boxes too:

Argh!

Most non SDK handmade jailbreak apps were considerably better thought out than this.

In all fairness, it's probably very similar functionality wise to their Palm version, which would be fine on a tiny screen and a stylus, but the iPhone is a different device with different requirements. They needed to write down the core functionality of their app and devise the most elegant solution for interacting with it on the iPhone.

ooohhh, are they going to submit it to the Apple Design Awards? :)

I don't think it will be available for sale on the app store in its current state. It doesn't comply with the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines.

They both made it on to the app store... Are Apple actively policing the GUI for apps? Unfortunately, It seems not.

Learning from "bad" UI - (37signals) (http://www.37signals.com/svn/posts/1128-learning-from-bad-ui) - For those interested in a bit of an overview of the way the app was designed like this.

Because they think that their disgusting light blue background is better than Apple's. GUI design all comes down to personal taste, just like shopping for furniture :)
