Can anyone recommend a utility or tool that shows where your all hard drive has gone. With the ability to display/list folders and files by size.

Over the past week the amount of hard drive space available has fallen from 64 Gig to 45 Gig. I share my iMac with my wife and I am wanting to know where all the previous space has gone.

Thanks

Try File Buddy (LINK (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11688))

You can search for invisible files etc

You have a common problem that is taken up by temp files and scratch disks that are not cleaned up.

OR you can use the finder..

open up a window..

view menu -> as list..
view menu -> show view options -> check 'calculate all sizes'

now sort the list view by size and you can see which folders/files are taking up the most space

Except hidden files don't show up normally which might be taking up all the space!

if you want to show invisible items in the finder, open up

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

and find

<key>AppleShowAllFiles</key>
<false/>

change that from false to true, then relaunch the finder.
