View Full Version : Is gaming a major flaw in OS X?

I accepted the fact that OS X 10.0 & 10.1 had no real gamepad/joystick support. Even tried to ignore the fact that 10.2 didn't seem to either. But none in OS X 10.3?? Does anyone know what the story is?

From memory, OS 9 had proper Input Sprocket extensions that allowed a gamepad to be plugged in and then configured for most games. OS X has no such thing. I've heard of many people buying gamepads and then having to fork out for a Utility called USB Overdrive to be able to map keyboard keys to various parts of the gamepad. All well and good except for the extra expense and the fact that keyboard keys are digital and don't have analogue control.

Anyone have any comments? True I don't have time for playing games all that much, but I think games are a factor that people consider when choosing an OS platform.
